Jordan

I've come full circle.
From evergreens to olive trees.
From malls to markets.
And now from Jordan to Jordan.
Upon moving to Jordan, MN, I can recall a vague knowledge of some country in the Middle East called Jordan that I would probably never go to.
Little did I know.
This week I got to spend four days there, but since pictures do a much better job of telling stories....

Our first day: The hike to Machaerus, where John the Baptist was imprisoned and eventually beheaded in one of King Herod's palaces

Machaerus

Day 2: Petra
The "melting chocolate" rock. Sometimes felt like another planet.
The treasury at Petra
Camels!

The Monastery at Petra

In case you have ever wondered....

This is what it looks like from the top of the world

Day 3: Ammon, the capital of Jordan

Devotional at the Jabbok River

The ancient ruins of Jerash

The North Gate of Jerash

Day 4: A theater in Ammon

Me n' Erin

The Jordan River, where Jesus was baptized. Some of the kids in the branch here have actually been baptized in this river, as there is no baptismal font here. Seems like a decent alternative to me.

  1. Ahh love it! I can see you laughing at "seems like a decent alternative to me" lol hmmm we don't have a baptismal font...but we DO have the river Jesus was baptized in! Will that work? Um, yes.

    1. It is in Indiana Jones! We watched the movie a few days before we went there because of that. And I should have taken a picture but there were Indiana Jones pictures and posters everywhere. Haha. So tell Brock yes.
